Laser Therapy (Photobiomodulation)

Mid-Michigan Chiropractic Center of St. Johns, Michigan and Dr. Charles Graham are now using K-Laser USA's class IV laser therapy
in the office.  Laser therapy may be used alone or in conjunction with the spinal adjustment, Active Release Technique, or other therapies
that the doctor may recommend.

Why laser therapy?  Over 2500 research papers show the following benefits of using laser therapy:

Physiological Affects of Laser Therapy:
٠ Stabilization of cellular membrane of damaged cells
٠ Enhancement of ATP production and synthesis
٠ Decreased c-reactive protein neopterin
٠ Acceleration of leukocytic activity
٠ Enhanced lymphocyte response
٠ Enhanced lymphatic drainage
٠ Reduction of Interleukin 1 (IL-1)
٠ Increased prostaglandin synthesis
٠ Enhanced superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels
٠ Stimulation of vasodilation
٠ Temperature modulation

Decreased Pain and Nociception:
٠ Ion channel normalization (results in pain reduction)
٠ Increase in beta endorphins (decreased pain response)
٠ Increased nitric oxide production (helps oxygenation and synapse normalization)
٠ Decreased bradykinin production (chemical released by damaged cells that causes pain and inflamation)
٠ Blocked depolarization of c-fiber afferent nerves (blocks pain at the nerve)
٠ Normalization of resting action potentials of nerves (back to 70mv range)
٠ Increase release of acetylcholine (normalization of nerve function)
٠ Axonal sprouting and nerve cell regeneration)

Tissue Healing:
٠ Increased leukocyte activity (acceleration of tissue repair and decrease of pain)
٠ Increased macrophage activity (increase phagocytosis)
٠ Increased neovascularization (new blood vessel growth and increase oxygenation)
٠ Keratinocyte proliferation (decreased skin healing time and early ephithelization)
٠ Increased tensile strength (helps prevent re-injury)
